150th Anniversary Celebration In the spring of 1872 the Buffalo River Settlement was visited by a circuit riding missionary of the Danish-Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church. Their missionaries would conduct services in the settlement once or twice a year until 1890. In November,1874 those who wanted a church in the community organized Vor Frelsor's (Our Savior's) Congregation. It was affiliated with the Norwegian Synod. The two church bodies were on opposite sides of the controversies about the doctrine of election/predestination. When that was resolved and the United Lutheran Church was formed the community also came together as Concordia. This year we will celebrate the deep Lutheran roots of this community on June 26. 10 am Festival Service 11:30 am Dinner (follows service) 1 pm Program 2:30 pm Coffee and Cake For planning purposes, we would like to get a count of those who plan to attend by June 6th. |
