Warned by angels sent to save him
Who was born on Christmas day,
Joseph leads his holy family
Far from Bethlehem and harm's way.
Mary shielding and consoling her new baby
Jesus Christ the Son of God.
God saved Jesus to save us all.
So in Egypt they found safety,
Far from danger, Jesus could grow,
Peaceful times for Joseph's family,
But in Bethlehem was sadness.
Babies lost to Herod's fear and jealousy
Meant that sorrow filled the streets
God brought tiny souls to heaven.
Angels tell of Herod's dying.
The return from Egypt begun!
Jesus will grow up in Nazareth
As Joseph the carpenter's son.
He will learn within the temple but will teach, too
For He is the Word of God,
Jesus, Saviour of the whole world!
